First Church Provides Meals to Springfield's Senior Citizens

November 25-26

The First Church of the Brethren will again be standing in the gap of providing a traditional Thanksgiving meal for Springfield's vulnerable senior citizens. This will be our 31st year of preparing, packaging and delivering these Thanksgiving meals.

There are many opportunities for you to volunteer. Please join us on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday), November 26, starting at 9:15am. Cold sack packaging starts at 9:15am. Delivery routes will be available for sign-up at 9:30am. The hot food packaging will begin at 10:00am. Meals begin to be delivered as soon as meals are packaged (traditionally within 20 minutes). Kitchen and fellowship hall cleanup begins at 10:30 and is finished by 11:15am

Please send an email if you would like to volunteer.

Vision Statement

The 2012 Annual Conference delegates adopted a new vision statement for denominational-wide use through the year 2020. The statement reads as follows:

Through Scripture, Jesus us calls us to live as courageous disciples by word and action: To surrender ourselves to God, to embrace one another, to express God’s love for all creation.

A variety of learning and worship resources have been and will be developed around this statement. An Annual Conference Wrap Up paper is available. Thanks to Rebecca Lipscomb for serving as our delegate the last two years.

Sunday School Teachers Needed

We continue to need a number of Sunday School teachers to rotate responsibility for working with and teaching our children’s class during the Sunday School portion of worship. Please share with Susan Faupel, Rebecca Lipscomb or Pastor Kres your willingness to help in this area. Many students choose to pay for essay cheap or seek online assistance but you're welcome to give them a hand.

Worship Leaders

Worship leaders are always needed. A sign-up paper is on the back table. You may sign up for one week, a couple of weeks, or several weeks. Read more about worship leading here.
